Kockens Basilika Burk - Basil 10g

Basil is an annual herb from the Lamiaceae (mint) family and is commonly used as a seasoning. The most common variety, cultivated in the Mediterranean region, is widely used to flavor meat and fish dishes, spaghetti, salads, vegetables, and soups. It can be used either fresh or dried.

Basil is also a key ingredient in pesto – a basil-based sauce made with olive oil, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and pine nuts.

It should not be confused with Thai basil, which differs significantly in both taste and appearance. Thai basil has a strong licorice-like aroma and plays an essential role in Asian cuisine. If a recipe simply states "basil" in an Asian dish, it usually refers to Thai basil, which cannot be substituted with common basil.
