Kockens Vitpeppar Hel Påse - White Pepper 90g

The true pepper, Piper nigrum, belongs to the diverse family of pepper plants, Piperaceae. Black, white, and green pepper all come from this plant. Pepper is a perennial climbing vine that can grow up to 10 meters long. Its flowers are small, ranging from white to green, and its fruit is a single-seed drupe. During harvest, the entire fruit clusters are hand-picked six to eight times per season at intervals of about two weeks.

White pepper is obtained by picking the ripe fruits, which are then dried. Its flavor is less intense than that of black pepper. White pepper can be used both whole and ground, delivering the best flavor when freshly ground in a pepper mill. It is well-suited for white sauces, stews, and as a table spice. If a recipe simply calls for "pepper," it generally refers to black or white pepper, or a blend of both.
